Origin of LAMI and Short Films
LAMI was originally a series of 10 animated short films for children, produced in 2014 by AOKIStudio and broadcast on the Japanese television channel Kids Station.
The episodes, centered around the theme of friendship, feature musical notes as characters who discover that they can sing together.
Each episode is built around a new encounter between musical notes, resulting in a song. The uniqueness of these songs lies in the fact that each character can only sing their own name — for example, La sings only the note "la".
Each musical note has its own personality, color, and shape, and always stays in the same vertical position, just like on a musical staff.
Do is a mischievous little boy with a strong personality who constantly argues with Re, a playful, lively boy who’s always on the move. Mi is an energetic and courageous girl, but sometimes gets discouraged and can be a bit scatterbrained. Fa is very absent-minded and often forgets to sing, even when it's his turn. His friend Sol is vain and thinks she’s the most beautiful note in the scale. La, the main character, is a shy and sincere little boy who, at the beginning of the film, reflects alone on the staff about the meaning of friendship. Si is a well-read, calm, and mature girl for her age. And finally, Pause is a character in his own right. With his uncontrollable hiccups, he unintentionally prevents the others from singing.
The first episode was selected at 120 international festivals, and all 10 episodes are now gathered into a single 20-minute short film available to watch online for free.
Synopsis: La is a small, shy blue boy. He always sings alone on his staff. One day, he meets a little girl named Mi who is crying, and he discovers friendship. He realizes that singing together creates a melody. New friends join the story in each episode, gradually building the song...
